This site features daily historical railroad posts from the Big Bend/Columbia Plateau region of Washington state. As a personal site, this is my online filing cabinet of interesting things I've come across about railroading in the area. Thanks for stopping by!

I love this Milwaukee Road stuff. Thanks. I also enjoyed the aerial view of Riverland and Vernita. In the early 60s my family drove from Yakima to Vernita and crossed the Columbia River on the Vernita ferry. I remember well coming down the hill and then crossing the Milwaukee (US Government RR) right before the ferry. The Riverland yard had to have been there, but I am sure it was comparatively little used in the 60s since Hanford was also served by rail through Richland.
