Painting History For Future Generations

From the Othello "Outlook."

June 15, 2005

I had seen some of Ms. Kimball's work on display at various places over the years and noted that she had probably taken pictures for the scenes she wished to paint. When time came for me to write my book, I looked her up. It was then that I found she had passed away 5 years earlier.  I did locate a few picture at her son Mike's house. He and his wife, Penny, were very gracious in allowing me to make copies of her Dry Coulee pictures, which have already been posted to this site.

You can see those pictures at this link.

2013 Quincy Depot Walkthrough

Back in late 2012 and early 2013 a rumor was heard that the former GN depot in Quincy, WA was slated for demolition.

We managed to get official authorization to tour the place. The building was pretty well stripped clean, save for materials for what I think was the signal maintainer who still worked out of the place.

The depot was ultimately torn down in 2017.
