Coulee City Engine Facility Scene

Material is being stored here for use in the first power line between Grand Coulee Dam and Bonneville Dam. The angle iron shown will soon be bolted together as the towers to hold the power line.

  1. That's one of the first photos that I've seen showing what power NP used there. Looks to be a Mikado. I wish we knew the year. I believe that locomotive was scraped mid 50's.

  2. It appears to be a W-1 Mikado, perhaps 1681 or 1684. W-1 number range was 1660-1699. Agree on nice to see the power.

  3. Agree W-1. Not sure on the number either. That is one of early ones built like in 1910. They were modified later to improve performance and served for almost 50 years. I think they got their monies worth!
