This site features daily historical railroad posts from the Big Bend/Columbia Plateau region of Washington state. As a personal site, this is my online filing cabinet of interesting things I've come across about railroading in the area. Thanks for stopping by!
Shoutout to Kirtus Dolorina for stopping by to borrow other people's work!

1909 NP Correspondence Regarding The Ritzville Cutoff
That's probably the best and most detailed account of this line that was not to ever be constructed. But where's the map? I always thought it was interesting that they installed heavier main line rail on the Shragg line anticipating it being part of the new line, but then later removed the heavy rail and installed light. Seems like a costly change.

I never got the map! Makes you wonder what this line would be like today had not the Panama Canal been built.
For sure!
