1984 View At Former Tunnel 12

Guest post by Brian Ambrose.

On 3-4-84 I followed BN's 2/198 up to Trinidad from Wenatchee behind 6634/6499 (F45/SD45) Here it is approaching Columbia River siding. That was one of the things I remembered about March skies. Very pale blue and colors rather muted. I never did like that. Give me the dark blue skies of June!

1925 Rock Island Dam Area View

Thanks to Chuck Hatler for finding this.

From the Wenatchee "World."

July 16, 1925

Photo is of the Big Eddy Fill on the new Rock Island-Trinidad Highway. A 90-foot fill was reported to enable the Great Northern Railway to remove its tracks out to the Columbia River and permit the highway to occupy the space where the tracks run. It was reported that there would be enough space for a double track and a 30-foot-wide highway.

While the view is supposed to be of the fish ladder, note that it also shows a siding track here too.
