This site features daily historical railroad posts from the Big Bend/Columbia Plateau region of Washington state. As a personal site, this is my online filing cabinet of interesting things I've come across about railroading in the area. Thanks for stopping by!
Shoutout to Kirtus Dolorina for stopping by to borrow other people's work!

2025 Mitchell Area Views
Location is on the Connell Northern branch, a few miles north of Wheeler. Part of the right-of-way is now a private airstrip.
Too bad they tore this out. Seems like it could have been a useful connection for Columbia Basin. I read an article about 6 years ago that there was interest in putting rail back on the original right of way or bringing it across more towards Ephrata, and then then possibly to Quincy, to give Columbia Basin access to industrial customers. Doubt it will ever come to be.

I recall BN trying to sell off the land in the early 90s. Then the plan you mention came up around 2000 or so.
Nice pic of the crop duster!
I might be dabbling in airplane photography.
Cool!
