This site features daily historical railroad posts from the Big Bend/Columbia Plateau region of Washington state. As a personal site, this is my online filing cabinet of interesting things I've come across about railroading in the area. I know it's easy to grab an image from here and post it elsewhere, like Steve Renfrow does, but if you do, could you at least give this site a little credit? Dan Bolyard

2006 Wheeler Section House
Prefab building built by the Northern Pacific in the 1960s to replace the original one. This is right next to the prefab depot. Note the "WCRC" on the mailbox. This was for the previous shortline name for this line, the Washington Central.

Bruce Watertank
I did get a photo of it in 2006, during a speeder tour of the Columbia Basin Railway. Sorry about the dirty windshield.
Bruce and Wheeler had identical water tanks. Unfortunately, the one at Bruce is gone. See the destruction here.

This cartoon was discovered via a blog entry over at the Washington State Library Blog. See the post here.
I can only imagine what the nice folks over in George, WA would say if something like this were to happen today.
