This site features daily historical railroad posts from the Big Bend/Columbia Plateau region of Washington state. As a personal site, this is my online filing cabinet of interesting things I've come across about railroading in the area. Thanks for stopping by! --Dan Bolyard

1976 SR17 Wreck
Guest post by Ryan Reed.
"Just east of Novara, Wash., bridge EE222 1/2 was nearly destroyed on December 30, 1976 when a tanker truck coming down the grade on Hwy. 17 lost control and overturned just shy of the west pillar. An on-coming truck (on the right) ended up the in the ditch as well. If you look very closely at the bridge, on the extreme right side you'll barely make out the Milwaukee Road logo.
"Years ago, I measured every inch, every bolt, of this bridge. Even today, six little bolts can be seen where the MILW logo used to be."
