Waterville Railway 949

Taken at Waterville, WA.

Built for the Spokane Falls & Northern in September 1896 as their number 10. Taken over by the Great Northern on June 26, 1908 and renumbered 949 and placed in class E-13. Sold to the Waterville Railway in April 1934.

It had 19x24 inch cylinders, 55 inch diameter driving wheels, 150 lbs working steam pressure (designed for 160 lbs), weight was 110,000 lbs excluding tender, 85,000 lbs was carried on the drivers, and had a tractive effort of 20,090 lbs.

GE Steam Turbine On The Great Northern

Used on the GN between Spokane and Wenatchee during 1943.

Hard to say where these are at. Likely at Hillyard.

Interesting to note the Centennial Mills elevator without the 2 steel tanks next to it, and that what I've always suspected to be the office (seen just above the buses) is indeed just that.
