This site features daily historical railroad posts from the Big Bend/Columbia Plateau region of Washington state. As a personal site, this is my online filing cabinet of interesting things I've come across about railroading in the area. Thanks for stopping by!
Shoutout to Kirtus Dolorina for stopping by to borrow other people's work!
I have a friend who lived across the river from Apple Yard and she said that a railroad tie or timber, landed in her yard from the blast. I honestly never believed her! After reading this, I think maybe I do now!

I have LOTS of photos from that day posted here. The crater alone would be able to hold a few locomotives.
There was debris flying everywhere! Amazing what power it had.
About as close to an earth shattering kaboom as any of us will get to.
