This site features daily historical railroad posts from the Big Bend/Columbia Plateau region of Washington state. As a personal site, this is my online filing cabinet of interesting things I've come across about railroading in the area. Thanks for stopping by!

CBRW Deadline At Warden
October 15, 2025
Left to right, 610, 608, 166, 1626, 2274. Yakima has a similar deadline.
It's a sad day to watch the new replace the old and the familiar. Like the replacement of F units that I watched, I can relate even more to my dad watching the passing of steam. I remember driving along the NP yard in Seattle early 60's and seeing the endless deadline of steam locomotives waiting to be cut up. It's part of "progress" right"?

I remember the last of the F units and hating the SD40-2s. No need to get worked up over change now. I'm glad the railroad is running!
For sure!!
Fingers crossed that all these 1st generation locos go to other good homes!
I vote for yours!
