This site features daily historical railroad posts from the Big Bend/Columbia Plateau region of Washington state. As a personal site, this is my online filing cabinet of interesting things I've come across about railroading in the area. Thanks for stopping by!
Shoutout to Kirtus Dolorina for stopping by to borrow other people's work!
Those F45 "growlers" as Martin Burwash called them, used as helpers between here and Skykomish-you could hear them leaving "Sky", standing at Deception Creek bridge they were so loud!
Was epic when they and SD45's were on the head-end, even better! Dad and I sitting in the Cascadia with a helper crew one early morning having breakfast and they march out across the tracks, and one guy comes jogging back in and grabs his reverser key he left on the table, looks at us and winks "not going far without this!" Shortly after, sure enough an EB Rolls into town and off they go.
