My Great-Grandfather Had A Windmill Shipped By Rail

Here is the waybill from Sears, who sold windmills by David Bradley, among others. I'm sure it was just the top parts.

Here is a mid-1980s photo of the windmill, along with my grandfather. I'm pretty sure the tower was cobbled together from scrap metal. It still stands today.

That is some cool history, built solid by him for sure! Glad you have all these receipts, what a great time capsule!

Just noticed on the waybill, it came in an NP boxcar via the SP thru Portland, that is cool!

It's a very small tie to the past!

But some BIG memories!
All I have from my grandfather is a ring he wore , little else.

At least you have that!

All I have of my grandfather is some photos standing in front of, or in the cab of NP big steam, but those are some of my favorite things. I only wish I could have had a cab ride in a steam locomotive with him like my older brothers. I did get a cab ride in a 4 unit set of NP F units tho. Pretty cool!
