Harold “Whitey” Evenhus began his public service to the City of Rock Island in 1952 serving, over the years, as the town constable, mayor and City Council member. His stories provide a window on how the town has changed during this period.

The principal physical feature of the new line to Royal City, a horseshoe curve built on the side of a slope, is seen in both of these images.
This is just south of the town of Rock Island. Rock Island Dam can be partially seen on the bottom left.
