World War 1 Trophy Train in Mansfield

May 1, 1919

The Trophy Train, touring the state to interest people in buying Victory Loan Bonds, was in Mansfield from 7:15 to 11:00 p.m.

The train was an exhibit of 1200 different pieces of ordinance, small arms and ammunition. Also displayed were battle scarred trophies, both Allied and captured.

Much interest was caused by the little French "Mosquito Tank" which performed outside the train running up and down the dirt embankment along the railroad track. Life like dummies, clad in all types of uniforms, made the exhibit more realistic.
