This site features daily historical railroad posts from the Big Bend/Columbia Plateau region of Washington state. As a personal site, this is my online filing cabinet of interesting things I've come across about railroading in the area. Thanks for stopping by!

1947 Bacon Siphon Tunnel
Courtesy of the University of Idaho.
Served by a Northern Pacific Connolly spur to the right and quite a few feet higher. The siphon tunnel was built to a 22 foot wide dimension.

Thanks for the photo. You'd never know how big the tunnels were from this kind of current view!
