2008 Last Run From Fairchild

10 years ago today, Engineer Bruce Butler in WRIX 1617 ran to interchange 3 empties for 1 load at Fairchild on the Columbia River Sub. He then brought that load through the Base and backed the train onto the NEW portion of the Geiger Spur to retrieve H&H Rail Builder's ballast hopper (where this photo was taken)--it being finished dumping rock on the new Spokane-County-Owned 3-mile connection to the ex-NP CW line at Geiger Junction. Bruce will likely remember if this was the last run out to Fairchild, but this was the first move onto the line that would replace the trackage through Fairchild AFB---and interchange of these cars of steel would move to Cheney on the Lakeside Sub.--and move via the EWG to this location.
