Wreck at Trinidad Sand Spur

From “The Quincy Quill,” Quincy, WA

May 4, 1906

Last Thursday afternoon freight engine No 1100 was partially demolished and Fireman Whitechurch seriously injured in a smashup at the sand spur a mile west of Trinidad. The engine had switched some loaded cars on the main line and while putting some empties on the spur the loaded cars broke loose and started down the grade, striking the cab and crushing it. The left side of the engine was injured some. The injured were taken to Wilson Creek on the 4 o’clock train.
